How to Post Book Reviews

Posting a review is a great way to thank an author for their book. Reviews can make a big difference in whether someone else decides to buy. They’re also a great way to let an author know what you liked most. Nothing gives an author more joy than knowing how something we wrote touched someone.

Websites don’t always make it easy to see how to post a review, so here’s a short guide to the most important places. I’ve used three of my favorites by other Biblical writers as illustrations.

Goodreads
This is the tricky one. While it’s clear how to enter a rating, it isn’t obvious how to post a review.

To rate with stars, just select the number you want. If you want to post a review, here’s how Goodreads says to do it.

Navigate to the page of the book you’d like to review (you can find it by searching for it in the search bar in the header).
Underneath the book’s cover image, hover over the stars until the desired number of stars is highlighted, then click on them to rate the book.
A pop-up menu will appear above the stars. Click on the Write a review text.
Enter your review on the following page, and click on Save to submit.
Please note that you have to be a Goodreads member to write a review.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know what a book meant to you by writing a review!
